Description

Professional Acrylic - Payne's GrayPayne's Gray is a dark blue grey made from a mixture of Ultramarine, Ivory Black and sometimes Crimson. It was named after the 18th c. water colourist William Payne who created the mixture and often recommended it to his students as an alternative to plain black.

It was discovered in 1802 by French chemist Louis Thénard as an alternative pigment to the expensive Lapis Lazuli blue pigment

Originally extracted from plants similar to blue woad used by the ancient Britons

Oxide of Chromium is an opaque willow green pigment

Made artificially since the 15th c

French chemist Guimet created synthetic Ultramarine in 1828

This set is practical for either studio or outdoor painting as it includes a brush and palettes with multiple mixing areas

A lighter red to its sister colour Pyrrole Red

They are also useful for gouache

Winsor Green (Phthalo) is a brilliant transparent green pigment with a blue undertone

a pigment known for creating the iconic Ferrari red

the name of this colour will also change to Burnt Orange with the resulting colour an extremely close substitute of Quinacridone Burnt Orange
