This acrylic on canvas painting (61cm x 91cm) is still one of my favorite paintings and is referred to “the fish with a cigarette” (as my wife calls it)

But creatures here live a nomadic existence traveling many kilometers every day from one feeding ground to the next

I wanted to portray a large redfish going after a healthy sized blue crab

The bait fish are then kept together in a tight rippling ball as the sailfish

I wanted to portray a large blue marlin specimen by filling the picture as if being too large to capture in one shot

A few quick photos were taken and then the brute of a fish was released

The painting features some of the most revered predator species

with its olive green to yellow appearance and dorsal and tail fins lined with intense orange or red

patience and a little bit of luck
