Pūrerehua Raukaraka - Pounamu Bullroarer PendantThe oro (song) of the prerehua is designed to imitate the whirling and fluttering of the native Priri moth. The prerehua is an instrument for communicating with those from this realm and the one beyond. Mori uses varied from luring lizards, summoning rain and attracting a soul mate. In another tradition, several are played in unison at tangi (funerals). This piece was hand carved by Alex Sands from raukaraka pounamu sourced from Marsden of Te Wai
