Late 19th Century Chinese Yoke-Ebony (Wumu) Chairs TextilesThese stunning chairs originated in China during the Qing dynasty. They are handmade from a Chinese ebony known as Wumu and the rich colour of this wood truly outlines the quality of these seats. The style of this chair is known as Yoke back and this name refers to the curved headrest which is thought to resemble the winged hats of Chinese Mandarins of the Ming dynasty. Despite the age, these chairs have remained durable and they are incredibly heavy

The kimono can be removed from the frame and neither the frame nor the Kimono will be damaged
