What makes this particular boro stand out is that it is thicker than others we have seen; meaning it has more layers of the beautiful indigo dyed cotton panels. This particular piece of fabric has a lovely multicoloured chequered pattern

the pot still remains very intact and practically untouched by time

Its a marvellous and distinct piece of furniture
Originally
Due to the age of this mortar
these doors are made from a Chinese soft wood and remanence of the original lacquer can still be seen
Each plate also has their makers mark on the back
It was hand-carved from a block of wood and would have been used as a mortar to crush grain and spices
